Athletes

We’ve called upon the experience of many athletes in the development and ongoing testing of our bars. Long time athletes are a valuable resource for not only their attention to detail with their bodies and nutrition but also for their experience with the wide spectrum of energy bars. Don’t believe us, trust our customers.

It’s great that the Dr Will Bar is locally developed and geared towards serious endurance athletes. For our lengthy outing we are counting on the combination of taste, convenience and extra calories to have us bounce back fast and keep going strong through all the relay rounds. – Steve Strauss (Team Captain), Ultra Lords

Between being a cycling coach, bike racer, and general outdoor enthusiast, I have always been in search of the best on-the-go food to eat. I’ve tried a lot of different products, and have recently come across Dr Will bars. It took me one ride to come to the conclusion that Dr Will bars are the bar of choice for me while training, and one that I would recommend to all of my athletes. I often hear from my clients that they have a difficult time eating solid food during intense training rides and races. Most of my riders have found Dr Will bars to be a solid food that can be easily eaten while working hard. The bars go down easily within seconds of chewing, while other energy bars seem to take the entire ride to chew and eventually swallow. Dr Will bars have a great consistency and taste that makes you want to eat them even when you aren’t training! That, combined with nutritious ingredients, and a great mix of carbohydrates and protein make it the best bar on the market for training and racing in endurance events.

I received your bars yesterday. Thanks for the quick shipment. You have a good thing going on! With the Myrtle Beach Marathon being canceled, I ran the full course on Sunday. I typically require a good bit of calories during long runs or rides. I had one of these for breakfast and it fully satisfied my calorie intake for the morning. They are perfect size to carry and has everything needed for a endurance athlete as myself. I usually eat Power Bars, but your product has taken its place.

I had a chance to try out the Dr. Will bars over a couple 3+ hour rides.  Normally, by the end of rides I am sick of gel blocks, gels and regular energy bars.  The Dr. Will bars were something new to me. When I first opened the package, I was immediately greeted by a great nutty smell- almost like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  It was also half the size of a regular bar.  I couldn’t wait to take my first bite.  I bit into it and was rewarded with one of the best tasting experiences with an energy bar.  While many bars have absolutely horrible texture, taste like cardboard or are dry to the bone, the Dr. Will Bars are the exact opposite.  The texture is a great mix of a slight crunch combined with a dense grainy moistness.  With a great nutty flavor, these will go down well during races.  The other important piece of the equation is energy.  Gels are often missing a critical piece of nutrition- fats and proteins.  Late in races, my body feels the need for these nutritional components.  The bar provides the nutrition, calories and taste to help me last into the 4th+ hour of riding.  I’ve also found that most other bars provide me with only one hour of fuel. These bars up the ante, providing me with between 1.5 hours to 2 hours of fuel.

I am also allergic to soy protein.  While the bar discloses that it was produced in a facility where there are also soy products produced, I had no ill effects.  I did not suffer any symptoms that I do when I consume soy products.  The next question is- how does it digest?  I didn’t know what to expect with the inclusion of healthy oils.  Would I cramp?  Would it sit in my stomach?  The answer to those questions- no.  I would recommend that you drink a little bit after eating though.  While people react differently to different products, I had no issues at all.

I am very pleased with Dr. Will bars and will be adding them to my
nutritional arsenal.

I love the Dr Will Bar because it is the only bar on the market that works to “fill the void” when training. So many bars are filled with sugar and overly processed foods. The Dr Will Bar tastes yummy, is filled with good stuff, and helps stabilize my blood sugar when training.

I’ve been eating Dr Will Bars since the days when Dr Will was making them in his kitchen…first as a competitive runner, then as a cyclist since 2005.  I literally never ride or race without them and have moved from a cat 4 racer to being signed to a pro contract in 2009.  I even travel with a box of them for out of town or stage races, consume them for breakfast, before a race and as recovery food.  I am known for hiding them from my team mates for fear of running out ! They have become an integral part of my training and are the staple of my diet.  No other bar can compete with its performance and its amazing taste!

Some days you just don’t want to stop. Stopping means someone else poached your line first or bombs your LZ. Honestly, if I head to the lodge it means something is wrong. The chair lift is built for Dr Will Bars. Fresh goggles, water, avalanche rescue gear and Dr Will Bars are all I load in my pack when I head for the mountain.

I’ve been racing both my road and MTB for the last 3.5 years and I’m happy to have finally found the DrWillBar! I enjoy it to start my day with coffee and after a hard training ride or race to aid in my recovery. It has the right mix of carbs to protein but the best part is that it tastes great!!! I crave them on and off the bike.

I run a design firm in San Jose, where my team of twenty plus designers, draftsmen, engineers and support staff visit the staff room to grab snacks and espresso as we brainstorm on projects, design ideas, planning…And for the last five months we have been ordering four cases of Dr Will Bars each month. Everyone loves their taste and the afternoon energy we all get that keeps us going for hours. It’s a common scene that several of us are munching on Dr Will Bars at the same time during an office meeting! So much so that we have a standing order to keep them coming.
